About In Other News

In Other News is a parody site. Nothing here is real news.

Stories are written in a deadpan wire-service voice: straight prose, absurd premises. The people, companies, agencies, boards, and reports in them are fictional. Quotes are invented. A dateline names where a joke is set. It is not a bureau, and it is not a dispatch.

This site is not affiliated with any news organization, wire service, government office, or real company. It does not publish breaking news. It should not be read as reporting, shared as reporting, or used as a source.

The tagline, pending a final line, is “The news, but other.”

Sections:

Opinion, when a column runs, is from a fictional columnist. Politics, if it shows up, is about institutions and partisanship in general, not a real officeholder.

If a story sounds almost plausible, that is the joke. It is still satire. The label on every headline, and the line in the footer of every page, are there so nobody has to guess.
